In order to associate RFCode tags to an asset in CenterScape, the following conditions must be true
- One or more RF Code readers have been configured to receive tag beacons and to communicate with Centerscape.
If they have not, refer to the instructions for your reader at the following location:
How to Configure/Add a Reader in CenterScape
- The Group Code(s) for the tag(s) you are adding has/have been added to CenterScape. All tags using the "Asset Tag" field ($aAssetTag GUID) must conform to one of the Tag Group group code settings. Refer to the instructions on how to add Tag Groups at the following location:

Associating a Tag to an Asset/Sensor in CenterScape
CenterScape is defensive on the "Asset Tag" field and attempted to validate user supplied tag IDs. Any tag entered in the Asset Tag field will be vetted by the CenterScape software before a commit is allowed. When trying to use just any string an error like this can occur.

When using the web UI or the api entity call, the assignment of an RFCode tag to an asset will need the RFCode tag to be currently detected by a reader or have been previously added as an unassigned tag. When using the import function, any tag id that meets group code formatting requirements will be accepted. This allows bulk imports without meeting tag management requirements. The filtering of available tags was designed for interactive use in order to verify user entered data, which is why bulk update methods ignore the unassigned tag and detected tag list.
If users need to interactively associate tags that are not within read range of deployed M250 fixed readers the tag management UI must be used to add the desired tags to the list of unassigned tags. Again, this is not needed when using the import method which is recommended for bulk imports of assets.
Using Tag Management
1. From the User Console, go to Tag Management > Manage Tags

2. Select Add/Import Method Group from the drop-down list in the middle column. A choice of three methods will appear.
- Individual Tag Entry - Use this method if one or two tags are going to be added.
- Supply the group code of the tag from the drop down list
- Supply the eight digit portion of the Tag ID in the the Tag ID Field
- Click "Add Tag" and the desired tag will be copied to the Unassigned Tags list.
- Import Detected Tags - Use this method if a set of tags that is currently in read range needs to be added, but then later associated with assets at a time where the tags are no longer in range. There is no need to use this function if the tags will be associated shortly after, as detected tags will be accepted without being in the Unassigned Tags list.
- Use the filter mechanism to filter out detected tags that are not intended to be added or simply click load for all
- Select desired tags to be added by highlighting them and click "Add Select Tags" OR click Add All Tags to add all tags that the filter returns.
- Upload Tag List File - Use this method to bulk upload a list of tag ids from a file.
- Create a csv file with a single column with header string tag.tagid.
- Select the file and import. All tags should be added to the Unassigned Tags list unless their tag IDs are invalid based on the group codes added to CenterScape in Tag Groups.
- Create a csv file with a single column with header string tag.tagid.
- Tag Management Unassigned Tags Window
- Manage Assets Under Type Unassigned Tag
NOTE: Tag management is only needed when adding tags outside of reader read range or when not using the bulk import tool.
