A reader is not being recognized by the Reader Configuration Utility (RCU)
Problem
A reader is not being recognized by the Reader Configuration Utility (RCU).
Description
You have connected a reader to a computer using a USB cable, but the RCU is not recognizing it.
Solution
Try the following things:
Ensure that the USB Cable is plugged in to the USB-B SERIAL port on the back of the reader.
Ensure that the reader has power. If not, plug in or unplug and then re-plug the AC adapter power cable to the back of the reader.
Ensure that the reader is recognized by the Windows Device Manager.
1. Right-click Computer (or My Computer) and left-click Properties.
2. Click Device Manager and look under Ports.
If the reader is not listed or if there is an error, update the reader driver.
Note: The driver file name is RFCUSB-complete.inf and can be found downloaded frmo below, on the RCU disc, or in the Windows installation directory of the RCU.
