Reader Deployment Guidelines
Reader Deployment Guidelines
Mounting Height
There is no maximum recommended height for mounting the readers; however, they should all be mounted at least one (1) meter off the ground.
Mounting Orientation
There is no perfect orientation for mounting readers; however, many customers have found that keeping them flat on a stand parallel to the ground and with the antennas oriented 90 degrees from each other produces good results.
When mounting readers in a data center, you want them to be above the racks with asset or sensor tags.
When mounting readers above ceiling tiles, the goal is to mount them as low as possible on top of the ceiling tiles, in an area with as few obstructions as possible. Make sure you do not mount readers next to, nor between, air ducts or pipes.
Configuring SSI
In general you want tag SSI to be 10 dB higher than the noise floor. If you need to configure SSI to limit zones, the Simple SSI rule is the easiest to use, but you can set your own rules. For example, one customer configured the Average SSI rule with Minimum SSI (-80) and Minimumper channel SSI (-85) and High Confidence (-55) after observing that when a tag was directly beneath a reader the SSI value were between 50-58 and when they are at 10m (perimeter of the zone) the value fluctuates between -75 to -85.
